Preston Memorial Hospital Respiratory Therapy Department offers New Service to Members of Preston County and surrounding areas beginning in July 2008
The Respiratory Department will be offering 3 different classes on Asthma Education to adult and pediatric patients, for both physician referred patients and interested members of the community
These classes will be taught by a Registered Respiratory Therapist and nationally recognized Certified Asthma Educator. The classes will be from the American Lung Association’s Breathe Well Live Well adult asthma education program and the American Lung Association’s Open Airways in Schools program for children aged 8-11years that is now available for use outside of schools and in the clinic setting.
In addition there will be a monthly meeting of the Preston County Better Breathers Club for members of the community interested in learning and managing all types of respiratory disease.
All Education sessions and meetings will be held at Preston Memorial Hospital

Breathe Well Live Well: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday Sessions. Ages 12 years & up. Class size is limited to 5-10 patients per session. Patients are asked to bring an ‘Asthma Buddy” Cost: $15 for materials for patients. Scholarships available. Refreshments provided.
Dates of Service: 7/26 – 7/27, 8/23 – 8/24, 9/13 – 9/14, 10/25 – 10/26
Open Airways in Schools 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday Sessions. Ages 8 – 11years old. Class size is limited to 5-10 patients per session. Parents or family members are asked to participate with the patient. Cost: $10 for materials for patient. Scholarships available. Refreshments provided
Dates of Service: 8/16 – 8/17
Preston County Better Breathers Club 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Thursday Evenings. Open to all ages. Information on topics and guest speakers will be available. Membership is free. Refreshments provided.
Dates: 7/24, 8/14, 9/11, 10/09, 11/20, 12/18
