The Emergency Department has a Level IV Trauma designation.

Patient-Focused, Quality-Conscious
PMH is a patient-focused, goal-driven organization. Our consistently low average length of stay represents efficient treatment, even for acutely ill patients, as well as effective therapies and fewer complications.

A Team Approach
Multidisciplinary teams provide holistic, individualized and comprehensive care while continually seeking ways to improve patient outcomes.

Community Outreach
Our team is committed to measurably improving the quality of life and health status in the community. PMH provides people free health screenings, educational programs & prevention services.

Philosophy of Nursing
The Nursing Department supports the vision, mission and core values of the hospital and the goals and objectives of the Nursing Department in carrying out its functions. It also believes that nursing care is rendered to each consumer without regard to race, creed, physical disability, national origin or socio-economic status.

The Nursing Department staff have the primary responsibility for planning and delivering individualized care to each patient. This care is focused on assisting the individual and planning the care to achieve as high a level of health and independence as possible.

The Nursing Department staff are responsible for the welfare of the patient and his/her family. Nursing staff must take into consideration the physical, emotional, pyschosocial, cultural and spiritual needs of the patient. The nursing staff work effectively with intrahospital departments and outside agencies in planning for and providing total care to the patient.

The Nursing care which best meets the total needs of the patient is delivered by registered professional and licensed practical nurses. The professional nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the patient's care and provides the required health care teaching. The nursing staff interacts with members of the healthcare team to assure that the patients needs are met.

The nursing staff are qualified to perform their duites and maintain those qualifications through inservices, outside educational programs and continuing education.

The Nursing Department has a responsibility to evaluate the activites of the department. Performance Improvement is ongoing, facilitates problem identification and leads to the improvement of performance and the quality of care delivered.
