Visiting Friends and Family
At Preston Memorial Hospital, visitors are not only welcome, but encouraged. On the other hand, rest is an important part of a patient’s treatment and the medical staff has to make the determination of when it is best for the patient to have limited or no visitors.
Visitors are guests at Preston Memorial Hospital and are second only to the patients. We hope that our visitors will cooperate with the hospital staff in doing what is best for the patient.
General Rules
- Persons with upper respiratory infections, flu symptoms, or other infectious illnesses should not visit patients.
- All visits should be limited to 20 minutes or a reasonable length of time.
- The patient’s condition will determine the number of patients allowed at one time, but generally no more than 2 visitors at one time.
- There are no age restrictions for visitors, but young children must remain with parents and cannot be disruptive or noisy.
- Please respect all “No Visitors, “Isolation,” and all other signs posted on patient doors. They are ordered by the doctor for the patient’s benefit.
- Overnight visits are allowed under special circumstances, such as one parent of a child in the hospital may stay, or limited visitors of a patient who is critical or in an emotionally upset or confused condition. Permission must be obtained from the nursing staff.
