More than 80 people serve as Preston Memorial Hospital Volunteers, contributing more than 8000 hours of service each year. Volunteers can be found throughout the hospital – directing visitors at the front desks and in waiting areas, greeting customers and escorting them through the hospital, delivering flowers to patient rooms, performing clerical duties including filing, typing, and microfilming, Dietary and Housekeeping activities, delivering supplies throughout the hospital and helping customers at the Auxiliary gift case, among other things.
The PMH Auxiliary was established in 1955. The Auxiliary raises thousands of dollars each year through the gift case and fund-raising events, to support various hospital programs. Some of the most notable programs that the Auxiliary supports include:
- Nursing Scholarships
- Hospital Equipment
- Community Blood Drives
- Health Fairs
PMH Volunteers are treated to special lunches and programs, outings and free health screenings. They are awarded pins signifying their hours of service
