Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital Hosts 49th Service Awards

Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital held its 49th Annual Service Awards Reception to honor employees.

In an effort to continually recognize those who go above and beyond to provide an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence, each Mon Health System hospital awards employees monthly who represent the core values of the hospital system. These employees are named “ICARE Champions” after the core values of Integrity, Commitment, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.

Steve Bishop was named the ICARE Champion of the Year for Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital. Bishop is a part of the hospital’s facilities team and was voted as ICARE Champion of the Year by his fellow employees across the health system. Bishop is known for his humility and the positive attitude he brings to work each and every day.

The Quality Department was named Department of the Year for Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital. This dynamic team includes Michelle Stanton, Director, Laura Groves, Infection Preventionist, Cassie Howell, Quality Improvement and Chest Pain Coordinator, and Cindy Likens, Quality Program Coordinator for Stroke and Trauma. Often times working behind the scenes, this team pushes the organization to deliver exceptional care to each patient every day.  2023 was an extraordinary year for the department meeting achievements at the highest levels for many quality programs, certifications, and designations.  

“It is truly an honor to take this night and recognize the dedicated employees who make our hospital a place of hope and healing to everyone who walks through our doors,” said Melissa Lockwood, Chief Administrative Officer of Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital. “I extend my gratitude to each and every employee. Because of you, we continue to provide excellent care to our community.” 

Employees of various lengths of service were also honored during the awards presentation for their dedication to the hospital, their patients, and the community.

“This annual awards presentation is a celebration of the dedicated employees who work tirelessly to further our mission of enhancing the health of the communities we serve, one person at a time,” David Goldberg, President and CEO of Mon Health System and Executive Vice President of Vandalia Health. "Without their diligence and true care for what they do, we could not deliver the outstanding, patient-centered care we are known for each and every day here in Kingwood, and across the state of West Virginia.”

• Honored for 20 years of service: Debbie Evans, Holly Garlits, Kimberly Pyles, and Amanda Stuchell.
• Honored for 15 years of service: Shelley Graham, Jennifer Johnson, Lori Haught, Debra Liston, John Snyder, Kendra Wheeler, and Jody Varda.
• Honored for 10 years of service: Stacey Bragg, Dr. James Holehouse, Jason Mazza, PA, Lisa Lanhart, Misty Long, Vanessa Watring, and Shelley Weaver.
• Honored for 5 years of service: Cynthia Barlow, Michelle Bell, Nicole Buseman, Brittany Channell, Brenda Chidester, Mikhela Curtis, Hannah Frazee, Ryan Hovatter, Allyson Jackson, David Jones, Ashley Jose, Robert Larue, Brandon McGinnis, Zachary Metheny, Susan Murphy, Rebecca Muter, Shawna Ridenour, Susan Riley, and Melody Trecartin.
